The Bates Motel & Haunted Hayride

Every year around Halloween, Arasapha Farm in Glen Mills, PA turns into the Bates Motel. It’s not as it sounds a faithful recreation of the Alfred Hitchcock set, but it offers plenty of cool special effects, digital systems, animatronics, and actors, all terrifyingly detailed. There is also a 25-minute Haunted Hayride through the woods that was featured on the Travel Channel, complete with pyrotechnics and giant set pieces. The third nail in the coffin is haunted corn trail called Revenge of the Scarecrows.

• Open the last two weekends in September, the first weekend in October, then every day starting the following Thursday up through Halloween.

Pennhurst Haunted Asylum

The Pennhurst Haunted Asylum in Spring City was originally the real-life Pennhurst State School and Hospital founded 1908. After sixty years of poor conditions and patient abuse, the Pennhurst Asylum was shut down and lay abandoned for several more decades. Now, are haunted attractions, but what sets this place apart are the overnight paranormal investigations. If you love history but not scares, take a photography tour or daytime history tour of the State School buildings. Haunted attractions are open:

• Second-to-last Saturday in September, then every weekend and select Thursdays through first weekend in November

Fright Factory

The Fright Factory is adults-only, deemed of the scariest haunted attractions in America, and it has been featured on the Travel Channel.The 25,000 square-foot basement of this 120-year-old factory is split up into three different experiences, so if you are feeling brave enough, try them all!

Sleepy Hollow Haunted Acres

Sleepy Hollow Haunted Acres is located In Newtown PA in Bucks County, originally founded in the 1600s by William Penn. The Malfate Manor is known as one of the most haunted houses in the county, and it gets decked out every Halloween for visitors to try and make it through the house, graveyard, and crypt. The Sleepy Hollow Hayride and Field of Fright winding corn trail are great outdoor activities on site if the weather is clear.

• Open the last Saturday in September, the first four weekends in October, and the Thursday before Halloween.
