How Does Land Rover Adaptive Cruise Control Work?

When you engage Adaptive Cruise Control, the system monitors vehicle speed in order to maintain a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead. If the sensors indicate inadequate space from the next car, it will automatically reduce vehicle speed. When a slower-moving vehicle is no longer present, the system responds with acceleration back to the originally-set cruise control speed.

How to Deactivate Adaptive Cruise Control

You can turn Adaptive Cruise Control off anytime, but certain scenarios will cause Adaptive Cruise Control to deactivate automatically. The system will retain memory of its most recent settings, whether deactivated via driver controls or automatically. Adaptive Cruise Control will deactivate in the event of any of the following Fort Washington road circumstances:

• The CAN button (cancel button) on the steering wheel is pressed
• The brake pedal is pressed.
• All Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) is selected.
• Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) or Electronic Traction Control (ETC) activates.

• Hill Descent Control (HDC) is selected.
• When the speed limiter is in operation (when the pre-set speed limit has been reached).

• When the vehicle in front of you moves forward again, tap the accelerator pedal and the system will re-engage and continue maintaining a safe following distance.
• You can adjust the following distance on your steering wheel-mounted controls.
