What is Land Rover Adaptive Cruise Control?

Land Rover Discovery Driving Down Street

What is Land Rover Adaptive Cruise Control? This enhancement of the Land Rover cruise control system is available on select new Land Rover SUV trim levels. Land Rover SUVs like the Range Rover Sport and the Range Rover Evoque come standard with a Cruise Control & Speed Limiter, allowing you to set a maximum cruising speed and avoid speeding. Land Rover Adaptive Cruise Control takes those customization capabilities even further. Learn more about Adaptive Cruise Control below, and don’t hesitate to contact the team at Land Rover Willow Grove near Mainline with any further questions about Land Rover technology.

How Does Land Rover Adaptive Cruise Control Work?

When you engage Adaptive Cruise Control, the system monitors vehicle speed in order to maintain a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead. If the sensors indicate inadequate space from the next car, it will automatically reduce vehicle speed. When a slower-moving vehicle is no longer present, the system responds with acceleration back to the originally-set cruise control speed.

How to Deactivate Adaptive Cruise Control

You can turn Adaptive Cruise Control off anytime, but certain scenarios will cause Adaptive Cruise Control to deactivate automatically. The system will retain memory of its most recent settings, whether deactivated via driver controls or automatically. Adaptive Cruise Control will deactivate in the event of any of the following Fort Washington road circumstances:

  • The CAN button (cancel button) on the steering wheel is pressed
  • The brake pedal is pressed.
  • All Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) is selected.
  • Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) or Electronic Traction Control (ETC) activates.
  • The Electric Parking Brake (EPB) is applied.
  • Hill Descent Control (HDC) is selected.
  • When the speed limiter is in operation (when the pre-set speed limit has been reached).

Adaptive Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go / Queue Assist

New Land Rover models also come equipped with Stop & Go (also known as Queue Assist) driver-assist feature. Your Land Rover will engage this smart Cruise Control system in slow-moving lines of heavy traffic:

  • When the vehicle in front of you slows to a standstill, the system brings your vehicle to a stop to prevent fender-benders.
  • When the vehicle in front of you moves forward again, tap the accelerator pedal and the system will re-engage and continue maintaining a safe following distance.
  • You can adjust the following distance on your steering wheel-mounted controls.
