When you engage Adaptive Cruise Control, the system monitors vehicle speed in order to maintain a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead. If the sensors indicate inadequate space from the next car, it will automatically reduce vehicle speed. When a slower-moving vehicle is no longer present, the system responds with acceleration back to the originally-set cruise control speed.
You can turn Adaptive Cruise Control off anytime, but certain scenarios will cause Adaptive Cruise Control to deactivate automatically. The system will retain memory of its most recent settings, whether deactivated via driver controls or automatically.
